Building in Flexibility with Babywise {Guest Post}

Building flexibility with Babywise.

When first-time moms begin using Babywise, it can be a bit stressful and feel like a rigid lifestyle. This can cause a huge amount of stress, especially if you are a Type A person and really trying to do well with being successful at Babywise.

It is so important, however, to go into Babywise with the intention of being flexible, and knowing that things don’t work perfectly. Whether it’s a sick baby, a growth spurt, a wonder week, or teething, curveballs are going to be sent your way at all times during the first year of your baby’s life. Knowing that this is normal and accepting flexibility into your schedule is key to surviving this first year.

How to build in flexibility with Babywise. You can have routine and structure but not be rigid. Here is how. #babywise Team-Cartwright.com

Every twin mom wants to know when her twins will sleep.  When will they sleep through the night?  When will they take good naps?  And when will they sleep at the same time?  Just as you are settling into a routine you are hit with one of the most frustrating events in baby sleep: the 45-minute intruder.  All you want is for your babies to be taking two-hour naps, and they wake up after 45 minutes.  It is so annoying!  The one important thing to know is that this is normal.  There is nothing wrong with your babies or how you are parenting them.  But you don’t have to just wait this phase out.  Here is how to conquer the 45 minute intruder with twins.

3 Little After School Questions That Have a Big Impact

After school questions to ask your preschooler every day.

Preschool is such a fun time for kids! So many new friends, games, and learning opportunities.  It can be bittersweet for moms.  I know when Ben started I was so happy and excited for him, I knew he was going to love it.  But I was also sad because there were whole chunks of his day I was no longer a part of!  The first few days of preschool I asked Ben a million questions on the drive home, but he was not exactly forthcoming with information.  In fact, he usually gave me nothing.  So I knew I had to get creative.

Learn 3 questions to ask your preschooler every day after school to find out how their day went and reinforce values. Behavior checks, emotional resiliency, and a focus on kindness. #preschoolers #afterschool #emotional #development #positive #parenting Team-Cartwright.com

How Babywise Confirmed My Parenting Instincts

Motherhood is beautiful.  It is also overwhelming.  You pop out a baby and they send you home to keep it alive.  I, of course, did hours of research and reading on all things parenting.  I looked at everything I could on the internet on what was best.  To be honest, though, a lot of what was currently trendy in parenting went against my natural instincts.  I wanted to be an attentive mother, but I didn’t want to be a helicopter mom.  I wanted to give my all to my child, but I didn’t want to lose myself.  And I wanted to find a sense of order to our days while still prioritizing my child’s needs.  Was it possible to do it all?  Fortunately, yes.  I found a book that supported what my gut was telling me.  Here is how Babywise confirmed my parenting instincts.

Babywise confirmed my parenting instincts. What do you do if your parenting gut goes against what is trendy? Here is how I overcame that. #babywise #parenting #positiveparenting #motherhood #momlife #motivation #baby #toddler Team-Cartwright.com
